Visit Castello Scaligero

Perfectly preserved and restored over the centuries Castello Scaligero is open to the public. It is home to the Natural History Museum, the Goethe Room, the Rivellino courtyard and the 30 metre Tower you can admire a spectacular view of the town from.
Dating back to the Lombard era (the middle of the first century AD), it has been destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries and witnessed a succession of wars and dynasties: Franks, Scaligeri, Visconti, the Republic of Venice and the Austrians. In 1866 it became part of the Veneto region and was proclaimed a national monument.

Visit The Palazzo Dei Capitani, The Marina and The Old Port

The old town is worth a visit as well as Palazzo dei Capitani in Via Capitanato near the Marina and the Old Port. Dating back to 1300 it was built by the Scaligeri and subsequently restored in venetian style. It takes its name from the House of the Captain of the lake which was used during the Serenissima Republic. The ground floor and the gardens can be visited for free. It is used to host weddings, concerts and events.

The Mount Baldo Cable Car

Inaugurated in 2002 the new Malcesine cable car is a modern and futuristic ski lift equipped with two rotating cabins that takes you from the centre of the town to almost 1,800 metres above sea level in just a few minutes to enjoy incredible 360° views. A must for those that love walking, trekking trails, mountain bike tours and paragliding flights.

Boat trips

From the Marina in Malcesine it is possible to embark on traditional Navigarda line boats that connect various locations on the lake. An opportunity to move around in an eco-sustainable way, save time and enjoy the relaxing views. There are also boats for hire, outings on the Siora Veronica sailing boat and cruises on modern motorboats.

The beaches

In Malcesine there are kilometres of white pebble beaches to the north and south of the town. Free, public beaches and just a short distance from car parks, bars and restaurants.
Paina Beach in particular is located near the town centre. Just a short distance away there is a children’s playground, a beach volley court, a skateboard area and a multifunctional sports court. There is also a Beach Resort with a restaurant, a bar and sun lounger hire (for a fee).
