Art therapy in Malcesine on Lake Garda

"Often the hands can unravel a mystery that the mind has worked in vain." C.G. Jung

You may be wondering: what is the Atelier? It is a real experiential workshop, a creative space where painting helps to activate the creativity inside each of us to cope with periods of particular stress and illness. With Sibylle you will rediscover daily balance and harmony by expressing the unconscious with a non-verbal therapeutic method. Through the artistic expression of thoughts and emotions you will be able to benefit on a relational and affective sphere.

The painting workshop is a protected place where it is possible to create worthless images. Inactive creative resources and powers of self-healing are activated. With art therapy, one can overcome fears, change old patterns of thought and behaviour and discover one's own potential. Painting allows access to the unconscious, increases self-confidence and calms the mind. We offer courses for adults and children, weeks dedicated to psychophysical well-being in a serene and relaxed environment. Trial lessons are also possible.

In March 2013, I left Switzerland and moved to Malcesine on Lake Garda for love. In Switzerland I worked for a few years as an ergotherapist at the psychiatric clinic Schlössli AG, where I was able to put my heart and soul into art therapy. I left this job with a heavy heart.

The first period in Malcesine I actively supported my partner in the hotel. From the beginning it was my vision to open a painting studio in the hotel. 'Back to the roots' so to speak, because in the early days of the hotel, in the 1960s, it was used as a rehabilitation centre for war veterans. There was a painting and sculpture studio as well as an art forge and many paintings and sculptures were created, some of which are still preserved.

Accompanied painting opens up access to your creativity and intuition. It strengthens self-confidence and promotes perception. Painting is a dialogue with oneself, events and feelings can be felt and experienced in images. Painting is performed without pressure to perform and artistic demands. Something is painted as it is, images never have any meaning. Anyone who dares can paint, the unconscious has an inexhaustible supply of images. Everything we have experienced has shaped us into what we are today. Much of this resides in the realm of the mute and unconscious, difficult to put into words. It is a way of expressing these interior images through painting. Brave decisions are often made while painting. We look for solutions, have new experiences, make changes. We can relax, enjoy ourselves and take a break while we paint. This is a good prerequisite for making life new and different. Symbols are created that have to do with man's senses and his purpose in life. Painting in the studio is like a bridge to everyday life.

Art therapy work is carried out in painting and not in conversation; the core of art therapy is non-verbal expression.

LOM® solution-oriented painting offers the opportunity to address a wide variety of problems, stresses and disorders. LOM® can help where things get difficult in life.

We often carry heavy old stories, run into a disturbing behaviour or symptom pattern, have difficulty with a decision, suffer from an unfinished relationship or a traumatic experience. LOM® offers the opportunity to deal with such stressful issues (interference fields), to develop new perspectives, to activate resources and to find a positive attitude towards life.

Solution-oriented LOM® painting is an art therapy method that consists of replacing disturbing memory images with disturbance-free images in the brain. Concerns get addressed in a targeted and structured manner.

The first individual image task is determined in a one-to-one discussion, followed by further image tasks and memories, feelings and dreams that emerge are included. This creates a moving and often surprising process that can lead to surprising and facilitating solutions. It is a painterly process, the dialogue is not in the foreground and the images are not interpreted. The method does not require any previous painting or artistic knowledge.

LOM® solution-oriented painting was developed by Dr. fil. Bettina Egger and lic. Phil Jörg Merz. The effectiveness of LOM® has been studied and proven (information at www.lom-malen.ch).

Painting weeks or trial and individual lessons can be booked.
